Environmentally Friendly.
At Carleton Place Lofts, we are concerned about the environment and have strived to create energy savings and environmental features in the design and construction of the buildings. While not listed in any particular order of importance or significance these design features include:
• Carleton Place Lofts incorporates the use of a highly efficient and comfortable in-floor hot water heating system with a separate AC system for cooling, all designed per ASHRAE criteria and requirements.
• Site selection that does not infringe upon any farmland, park, wetland or flood plain.
• More than 60,000 square feet of building per acre of development creates development density and community connectivity.
• The site has ample public transportation access with the existing bus lines and the future Light Rail Transit (LRT).
• Bicycle storage is provided in this development.
• Storm water will be controlled and detained on site. There is less hard or impervious site surface after this development than existed before.
• This development incorporates the use of parking lot lighting of “shoe box” design to reduce glare and light pollution.
• Carleton Place Lofts uses very high efficiency water heaters and boilers for more energy efficient mechanical equipment.
• Carleton Place Lofts reuses a minimum of 75% of the existing three warehouse buildings.
• Low-emitting materials are being used that include adhesives and sealants, paints and coatings, carpet systems, and composite wood and agrifiber products.
• All lighting is controlled by switches and/or timers.
• All building temperatures are controlled by thermostats and other devices unique to the designed heating system for comfort and energy savings.
Over 75% of all spaces for public use and residential use have access to daylight and views.
